The Film that Inspires

Throughout my short lifetime, I have watched many movies; but only one inspired me to change my view on life. That would be the film Instructions Not Included. I remember watching it with my family and being the only one who did not cry, yet I was still impacted greatly by it. Instructions Not Included was able to change my opinion on how life should be lived through its emotional storyline.

The movie is about a guy who figures out that he is a dad when one day a women he had slept with came to his apartment and told him that the baby she was holding was his. She then asked him for money to pay the taxi driver and just left the baby with him and took off. Therefore, the rest of the movie is based upon him trying to raise his daughter the best he can. The turning point comes when he finds out that she has a health issue and only has a handful of days left. In the following days he simply just tries his best to enjoy his daughter. It is here where my view on life changed. I realized that you have to live your life day by day trying to enjoy your life and the people that you love as much as you can. To elaborate, you cannot spend everyday worrying about the future, whether it be college or an upcoming concert that you perform in. You must take breaks from reality and the stresses of life to simply enjoy yourself and the people that you care about because otherwise you will look back and realize that you were living this sad and unfulfilling life, and the worst part is that there is no one that you can blame but yourself.

All in all, the movie was great, the story line was moving and the actors did a great job, but the impact that the movie can make is the best part. This simple movie was able to change my out look on life in just two hours and 2 minutes. Since watching it I have tried to enjoy life to the fullest but still keep control of it. I have succeeded partly due to the movie making it seem simple when it truly isn’t but I can say that I have been more outgoing and happy. At the end of the day the impact is still with me and I plan to stick to this new outlook for as long as I possibly can because if I don’t, I don’t know how I will turn out to be.
